opinions on SLS Loudspeakers monitors?

What's your favorite ATC Loudspeakers?

My father is looking for a good USB or Firewire Mixer Audio Interface and a good set of speakers for his keyboard. He will probably be using it as a home studio but also for live playing.

I am currently a college student and as you would have guessed I'am short on cash. I recently bought the software program REASON, and i have no speakers.

So my question is what speakers do you recommend?

My budget is around $100-$150

hi everyone. yet another newbie here, but not new to recording.
i have a home studio that i use to record my material only and i use a pair of klipsch wf 35's and a crown amp for mixing which do a nice job for me.
we also practise (3 of us) in here (room 20'x22') and were using a pair of 800 watt yorkville U15-P's for that.

I havent really had a particular problem with this, but I was told you arent supposed to run speaker, mic or instrument cables next to power cables and extension cords to avoid hiss. How true is this? Any more input on this simple subject?

I'm going to be purchasing a Tascam us 144 in a couple days and i want to know what kind of speakers would be best for under like £80 or so, I'm a beginner at recording so I'm just looking for a good set, dont really know what to look for

weird problem:

This is very strange. I received my new cab today and I'm a bit concerned. It is supposed to be a 4x12 cab, but upon holding a measuring tape to the speakers, they only measure about 10-10 1/2" from edge to edge. Maybe this is not how they are measured? I am very confused and I'm wondering if I should be concerned or not. Any peace of mind?
