Putting all faders into write on SSL?
I work on a SSL 4000G series desk with Ultimation.
As long as I work on a "new mix" it's easy to go back to a certain point and put all faders into "write" (trim or absolute). I use the command JOIN.

"Write to end" on SSL G-series automation?
Is there an equivalent to "write to end" on the SSL G-series mixing automation/ultimation. I can't find it in the manual.

SSL balancing (balancing in general too)
So I have the SSL boards, parts, and I'm going to start putting it together today, but I have to ask: What's the best way to go about unbalancing the SSL inputs/outputs?

SSL 1U channel strips
There was an article I read reguarding Solid State Logic getting into the low to mid level segment of the recording market. Is this true? The article was about them putting out a 1U channel strip that was taken from there world class high-end consoles. There's different versions w/ compression or without & other combinations. Has anyone come across this yet?

What's the "Quad" in SSL Quad
I've become curious exactly what the Quad refers to when people talk about the Quad compressor. Google hasn't helped me answer the question. If I had a rack full of distressors, could I emulate a Quad compressor, and if so, how?

SSL SL571 pinout
Darn it...
I've misplaced my SL571 pinout, and I need to get one wired up by Saturday evening for a recording... does anyone know anyone with an SSL5000 manual who can look up and post the pinout?
...This is a long shot, but I'm really pushed for time and all my buddies at SSL in NY and LA are finished for the weekend...

SSL 470K or R?
Sorry guys about this topic again...
I'm stuffing my SSL clone and I found out that the part list from the page doesn't match the diagram. On the list there is:
470K 1 RR-0636 $0.05 $0.05
470K 5 RR-0636 $0.05 $0.25
Both are the same so why write separate ?
And on the mounting diagram there is 5X 470R and 1X 470K so...
Any clue ?
Phil

Training on SSL
Just wondering what the uptake would be to intensive training courses on an SSL console ( a few days) and how much you think would be a reasonable fee?

Mackie D8B vs. . SSL9K
Well, now that I've received a copy of the mixes for a band I produced, that were mixed in a big studio, by a really good engineer. I now know, that I don't need no stinkin' SSL. I used to mix exclusively on SSL's.
If anybody has a place for me to upload the 2 versions of the same song, you can tell me what you think.

SSL 4048E console or Protool HD
This question is also on the Pro Tools DUC.
I have an option on an SSL 4048E with G computer. The seller is willing to commission the console as part of the deal.
For the same money I can put together a HD3 system, Control 24 and surround monitoring.
I already have a HD 1 system and O2r.
Which would bring in more clients, the SSL or the Pro Tools setup?
