I originally posted this in the guitar forum but it occured to me that people here might know something as well - it's a bit of a tweener question:

sub harmonic synths
OK. I got one of these from a friend to try and modernize some rock stuff. How are they to be used. Kick, floor toms.. what about bass? Should you compress the return? What freq should I start around, the one I got doesnt say it goes as low as the dbx unit I have seen, but when listening to it, it goes REAL low!
What do you think?

Low Latency Soundcard + Standalone Softsynth Host
Howdy
I have a P3/1Ghz (or something, where can I find all the technical BS about my MOBO on a PC) currently with a Frontier Designs WaveCenter PCI card. I'm looking to turn this strictly into a "synth" machine.
preamp for synth in a digital environment
hi there,
i need a preamp in front of my ad-converter.
ich have the rme-multiface and do the mix in my Cubase in realtime. but there is the need of a analog-like headroom like from a mackie-console. direct converted it sounds not so fat espescially the bass-sounds.
i need it mainly for my synth so not a mic preamp and 8 chanels.

Nubee To midi and synths needs guidence
I am new to all this stuff but I would like to include midi and synth setups in my home studio so that I can learn and then earn. Any ideas as to what type of setup I should get that won't clean me out but will carry me for a reasonable time would be terrific..
Thanks in advance

How to track synths the professional way?
Ok, I know how the easy way works in theorie and in practice.
Take a synth.
Connect it with a recording system (something like a HD-Recorder or PC).
Press record and start playing!
I have a rather simple setup with an average Audio-Card, a Behringer mixer, PC and Cubase.

Yamaha Synth - Easy way to change patch selections?
I've got a Yamaha S03, that I'm finally getting good with to play a little with the band. There are only a few presets/patches that I use most of the time. But it's difficult to navigate to them using the on-board cursor keys, and nearly impossible to do it in real time while playing.
Roland Synth Module
OK...so I admit it...I am a guitar player, not a keyboardist! I do have a Yamaha digital piano with a midi setup that I use to control VSTi's. I keep thinking that I need to get a synth or maybe just a synth module (until I can afford the whole new keyboard).
