Description

The term "tracking" is a process when recording various instruments, voices etc used to create a song or production within its track. If a song is recorded one track at a time, we refer this to "tracking". Every time you record a new track, you hear all the other ones you've recorded as well. This tag discusses all sorts of topics on tracking music.

live recording vs. multitracking for acoustic guitar and vocal?

Hi, I'm a singer/songwriter recording my first demo at college and I'm getting some conflicting advice. I'm only recording acoustic guitar and vocal and wondered how best to do this, live with no headphone mix, to a click track and add drums later or should I still overdub? any advice welcome and much needed, cheers, TC

Tracking Headphones

I know that headphones have been discussed a lot, but I thought I'd ask again with a bit of a specific focus. I want to focus on cans used for tracking, so accurate sound is not a big issue. The sound has to be clean and clear, but if it is hyped or cut in some area that helps a player improve performance so much the better.
