Description

The term "tracking" is a process when recording various instruments, voices etc used to create a song or production within its track. If a song is recorded one track at a time, we refer this to "tracking". Every time you record a new track, you hear all the other ones you've recorded as well. This tag discusses all sorts of topics on tracking music.

Tracking video and audio in sync

I have a friend who is getting a Sony HDR-FX1 camcorder and we had the idea to track the audio and video seperately from each other so we could use our preamps and mics instead of using the camcorders mini input. We are not going to be using the mic in the camcorder itself. We need to sync the audio and video recording to each other so post-processing is minimal, but how do you do that?

Tracking Electronic Drums

Hello, I want to practice and record using an electronic drumset and guitar, bass etc.. and record to a multitrack unit. The guitar will have a podxt and the bass will be direct so no mics will be used. I was wondering if: instead of using headphones while tracking if I could use Fostex PM0.4 monitors to monitor the sound.

Tracking Issues Echo Layla/Samplitude

I am using Samplitude 7.11 with an Echo Layla 24/96 input device. I can get a click, a scratch guitar and 7 drum mic inputs in just fine. Then I go to overdub the original guitar or add bass whatever and the last track I add starts ok, but gets off sync after awhile. It is super annoying. I have experimented with having to do the track over and over etc...

Good Tracking monitors...

HI there!...I own a pair of Yamaha Ns-40's...I do all of my tracking, mixing, mastering on them and I love them!
BUT the tracking with these babys realy isn't the real deal...I mean some times I go record in defrent studios and the way the tracking sounds in other places is amazing...I'm now thinking of buying a pair of monitors just for the tracking prosses!...any sugestions?

The advantage of tracking with the 'c' word?

First off, sorry to add yet another compression post. I know it gets old reading “what are the best settings for my compressor” over and over again. But using the search function, I found similar topics, but not the answer to this particular question. Not that I read every topic that came up – so if I missed it, I apologize.
