For more than 20 years, UAD plug-ins and Apollo interfaces have set the standard in analog modeling — with the world’s most authentic software emulations of classic analog hardware and vintage instruments, co‑created with the biggest brands in audio.

scarlett 2i2 vs. roland quad capture

I just bought the scarlett 2i2 and plugged it in for the first time last night. Im not sure how i feel about it so far but i am still trying to figure out if the quad capture is worth the extra money.

I am replacing my PCI audio card, an Echo MiaMIDI (great card when it worked but drivers had constant conflicts)

New 1176 Plugins from UAD

In 2001 Universal Audio started it's line of plugins/DSP cards with a model of its own UA 1176. Their model of the 1176 was very good, but as you'd expect they've learned a lot over the last 10 years and a number of their recent plugins are more complex. A lot of people have been lobbying for them to go back and redo their old plugins and it looks like they've been listening.

UAD 6.0 Release

If you are using PT9.0 with a UAD card and plugins you owe it to yourself to download the new UAD 6.0 release. The plugins are now all RTAS compatible. The implementation was great with all of the RTAS plugins replacing the corresponding wrapped versions and preserving all the settings in sessions where they were in use.

UAD Roland Dimension D - the ultimate chorus? (includes sound clips)

I finished writing an article about Universal Audio's UAD Roland Dimension D chorus plugin . This one is quite straightforward to research and write about but is absolutely one of my favourite effects and is one of the few plugins that I use on every single session. I like to put it on the reverb and delay sends for some extra-lush sound.

UAD-2 and OTHER RAMBLINGS

I received my UAD-2 Solo the other day. It came with the basics as well as the Neve 88r strip, Pultec Pro(it has the mid range EQ in it), Fairchild 670, and the EMT 140 plate. I think there might be a couple more and I know theres several demos left in this used card. (Hello OXFORD!) I'm certainly enjoying this thing. Its surprising to me how good the emulations have gotten.
