UAD-2 Satellite Firewrie
Hi guys.
I just found great news for all notebook users. Universal Audio announced a new external DSP solution based on Firewire 800. As a MacBook Pro User myself, it sounds very interessing to me.
All German speaking readers can get more information here:

Tape Compression without tape? More UAD-2
Just got wind of this from UAD. Modeled from an actual Studer A800. They don't mention what tape they are using but it sounds easily as good as HEAT IMHO. No calibration. No need for biasing. Hmmm is it too good to be true?

UAD-2 Questions
I know there are a few of you out there who have UAD cards. The studio where my daughter interned has one and she raves about the Fairchild compressor plugin (among others). With ADC in PT9 this seems a more viable option for me. Questions I'd like to throw out to those of you who own them:

Hans Zimmer, a Cubase/Nuendo user, about UAD stuff( interview )
I worked with Hans only briefly and a long time ago, but we share a common opinion about UAD plugs.
They really get very close to the real things... Even if they need a card to play on, somehow it is just more
sound in them then digital algorythms..
;-)
Question about UAD plugins
Does UAD make software plugins that don't require a PCI card? or are they all ran off the pci card?
How does it work? Upgrades?
If they do make software plugins, do they sound any different then the PCI ones?
Thanks for the help,
-Bryan

Powercore or UAD ?
I've got a little bit of experience with Universal Audio plugins on a friend's system that has a UAD-2 solo but I've never had hands on with any of the Powercore hardware or plugins. I'm thinking about getting either a UAD-2 Duo Flexi or the Powercore Express. The Powercore comes with 14 plugins and a $500 voucher and I can get that new for $850.

UAD-1 USERS
I am an owner of a loaded-to-the max UAD-1. I do not have much experience with it though.
I am now using Wavelab to mix & master my first serious demo project.
Although I have Waves Diamond Bundle & Ozone 4, I predict the UAD-1 effects are superior.
My project has a few crappy merged/distorted takes (easily revealed when adding master EQ and effects).

Latency issues with UAD 1 cards
I am having what sounds like latency issues when I use my UAD 1 card and TC elctronics power core (both pci e cards running on a G5 with 4.5 gigs ram and a glyph external hard drive-- I also have a glyph internal hard drive but I want to also mix on the external hard drive) during the mixing process any ideas on how to fix this issue?
