i have logic express 8 and i wanna get a usb controller for it. I'm looking for a cheap one to start on, i was thinking maybe Korg nanokontrol or novation nocturne? i have absolutely no experience in this area so help would be appreciated. thanks!

Hey guys sorry to bug but i got the us 144 Tascam I'm using a toshiba laptop with vista everything is fine but when i record its only recording out one so it plays back through one speaker instead of 2. Im using Mixcraft 4 with it anything would help on settings and stuff new to this

I managed to record things once or twice from my keyboard.

However, in Ableton 6, in preferences, when I set the audio input device to "Line (Fast Track) DX" or "Line (Fast Track) Wave" (whats the difference?),,,it says "Failed to open the audio input device"...

Its frustrating because I know I've recorded before, and now its not working anymore!

I have been using a EMU 0404 USB interface for awhile now but I recently bought a PreSonus Studio Channel which has a sweet preamp in it. I no longer really need the EMU because I don't like stacking preamps but I will still need the USB connectivity.

Can someone show me the way to just a simple USB interface I can come out of my PreSonus into then go into the computer?

Is a usb-midi thing (not 2.0) good enough for most midi related work?

What do you think is the best way for me to achieve this for the least additional $$$ outlay? I need to record a female speaking voice for an audio publication, via my PC. The result needs to be really pleasant to listen to for an hour or more, meaning warm, clear vocals with no annoying noises.

are usb hard disks slower than normal sata2 ones for recording? I mean, if I buy a portable hard disk to record into so as not to use the internal, system one, will it be slower (due to the usb cable as opposed to the sata2) in its transfer rate? does it depend on anything else besides its own speed (i.e. motherboard, etc)?

I've been recording spoken word tracks with mixed but steadily improving results.

Thus far I've been using a Boss digital studio and been fairly happy with it but I think I want to switch to a usb interface.

Probably a rackmount as I'll be migrating all my gear to a set of flightcases over the next year.
