Basics of a Good Vocal Track
Hi guys,
What are major guidelines (not rules) for vocal recording. This is what I am doing now:
1. Recording the vocals twice (Even though I'm off sometimes the 2nd time).
2. EQing Mids and Highs (440 and 6K for ex).
3. Reversing the phase
What other Fx or techniques do you use?
Thanks!

Vocal Compressor / De-esser help please...
I would like to find a nice warm compressor to use for vocals, but also one with a de-esser so I don't have to multi-band that out in post. Is that something that is usually combined? Or is that something that needs to be a separate piece of equipment?
If I get a multi-band compressor, does it still have an overall compressor that is not band-specific?

WARM VOCAL GEAR
I am looking to recreate the soft /warm sound of the beach boys vocals. there are new bands who create this exact vintage vocal effect (lansing-drieden). Check out the vocals on "the advancing flags" http://www.myspace.com/lansingdreiden (the vocals start towards the middle)

Vocal Mixing..
Im trying to mix down vocals on hip hop and drum&bass and the vocal track is sounding very seperate from the music. I'm gunna try to bus the tracks together and add compression and reverb.. is this the best way to go?

Question on how to get specific vocal sound?
Hey guys,
I'm recording an acoustic piece, and the guitars sound excellent (really bright and dense), but I'm having a hard time getting the vocal sound I want for the piece.
I'm looking for something along the lines of the vocal tone exhibited in the songs Daughters (by John Mayer), or Hello Again (by Tommy Lee).
