I'm new to all this home recording stuff, infact I'm brand new.

and survey says?.

I know this is such a difficult subject but i was just wondering if any one could give me some advice.

I currently have a AKG C3000 mic and a Behringer Ultragain Pro Mic 2200 and am not really happy with the sound, I would like something warmer.

A fair amount of my work is recording live concerts - usually acoustic music - not rockish things. I have a few SM58s - sometimes they do the job, sometimes they leave a lot to be desired.

I recently just watched the film "Metallica - Some Kind Of Monster" and through the entire recording process, James Hetfield sings into this handheld vocal microphone in the control room instead of going into the booth...

It almost looks like he's holding a backwards gun sort of...

Anyone know what kind of microphone this is?

Is anyone here familiar with the vocal sound on the Strokes 'Last Night' or even some of The Killers songs?

For smoothing out deep rougher voice as much as possible, what would be the best bet in a mic?
I know it is hard to describe on the internet.

Hello.I am looking for a dynamic ( not condensor ) vocal microphone for male and female vocal tracks. Something underneath $1000 would be sufficient.Please Help.

I’m racking my brain here. I need to pick up the following gear, but I live in a remote area, so A/Bing this gear isn’t possible. I know my ear will tell me if I like something or not, but I have to buy most of my gear online, so I don’t really have that option, unless I use a LOT of time and shipping costs. Plus I’m limited on funds right now (I’ve sunk all my money into building my studio).

what kind of analouge filter or hardware piece delivers that cool telephone voice sound the best..cheapest

i've heard of altec 2 band filters..
