Vocal Mic for under $1000
Is there a descent vocal Mic which sounds relatively uncoloured for under $1000. Something that will suit both Male and female vocals. I have been looking at the CAD M19 and the RODE NTK but I am still not sold on either of them.

Norah Jones - Vocal distortion?
I began by posting this on Stephen Pauls forum, but as it seem to be heading in this direction I thought I'd garnish some comments...
(Dead Link Removed)
Although I have noticed distortion in the low end as well?

Multiple vocal Micing - live recording
Please give some suggestions to this scenario:
(This is an on-going weekly effort):
I am recording a live jazz orchestra for delayed radio broadcast (and, later, cable TV & web). For now, this is being recorded straight to DAT - mixed on the fly. No o-dubbing, post mix work, etc.

Vocal mic for $1k
Hi guys any consensus for a lead vocal mic for around $1k - $1.2? I'm waiting on Stephen's mic but need to get something in the meantime.
Been using AT4060 (too dark and boxy for me), TLM 103 (too silibant, sounded compressed next to U87)

Andrew WK / Ministry vocal sound
OKay, anyone that disses me for liking the Andrew WK "I Get Wet" record can lick my prostrate. That being said, what kind of vocal effect is used to achieve this sound? Specifically. I get close results with a harmonizer (Micro Pitch Shift on the H3000) and 6 voice choirs (480L with an effect car. Anyone? Mike Shipley mixed his ass off on this record.

First Vocal Recording Mic Selection
(Hope it's ok that I posted this at HR also)
7 Years ago I decided to get a paying job instead of pursuing the passion of music recording and production. I figured that I would eventually start building a personal studio and fulfill my desire as a hobby.

making vocal stand out in the mix

Julian, if you are in here, can you show me how to do this inside Protool?
thank you.

Vocal mic signal chain question.
Hi,
I am having trouble recording vocals, and I have some questions that somebody on this forum may be able to answer. I would appreciate any help.
Here is what I've been trying.
I have an AKG3000b to my preamp inserted thru my compressor(after the preamp), to my DAW.

Vocal chain for BeeGees, Delphonics or Prince?
Hi.
I`m workin on ways to get a smooth and full falsetto sound. Bee Gees, Delphonics and Earth, Wind and Fire are some acts who I think have great sounding falsettos.
Does anyone know anything about how these vocals were recorded? Mics, Preamps, Compressors, Mic Techiques, etc..
