Vocal Equipment for Live/Studio use. Need Suggestions!

I am a singer/producer/musician with A PT home studio. My band has almost finished an album and we are preparing to play it live. I am extremely uptight about vocal sound quality and I am looking for some suggestions for vocal equipment for live use. Of course, I will also use this equipment in the studio.

Vocal Pitch

I'm in the market for a vocal processor for harmony work and vocal effects. I have my eye on the TC Helicon Voiceworks and the TC Helicon Quintet. Has anyone used these and which one is better? Also what is their down side if any?

What's this button do?

Better Live Vocal Mics

Anyone care to offer first-hand advice about buying better-than-average vocal mics for live performance? I am a part-time audio engineer for a small church. We could use some new mics. I currently use the SM58 and the Electro-Voice N/D767a. I have heard the beta 87a and talked to engineers who like it a lot. I have also used the AKG c1000 for some quick vocal recording.

basic vocal track volume inquiry.

As a general rule, when adding a vocal track to an existing musical accompanyment track prior to mixdown, would one slightly adjust the volume levels on the musical track for balance, or adjust the volume levels on the vocal track for balance? Methinks the musical track should be subtly adjusted for balance whilst leaving the vocal track alone for the most part.
