live recording/jamming...vocal monitors?
just curious, forgive my ignorance, what the most common form of vocal monitor sound is in the average studio? powered mixer running out to passive enclosures? power amp running to PA speakers? powered speakers?

Dealing with a lot of vocal tracks.
I am in a session where I have numerous vocal tracks. Beside the lead vocal there are two tracks for soprano, alto, tenor, and bass parts for a Worship song. In regards to mixing, I will pan each group in a different spectrum from left to right. However I am wondering, are there any general guidelines you could suggest in regards to EQ, fader levels and compression.

TLM-103. Anyone's fav. vocal mic?
HI all,
I was just wondering if anyone here who REALLY loves this mic, especially for vocals. While it's heavily criticised in some quarters, some people of course are fanatical about it.
Regards,
John Stafford

vocal mixing for boomy/chesty voice
Hi everyone,
I'm working on a prog-rock project right now where I'm mixing a singer with a voice which sounds like a cross between Roger Waters and Robbie Robertson. Very bassy and chesty. No matter what I do it sounds to bassy. Besides using a HP filter at 80Hz, What other frequencies are generally troublsome for a soft vocal?

The "Double vocal effect". .
How do i get that effect where the vocal sounds doubled on hooks of rap songs? when a voice is panned to the left as to the right and you can tell it is. I've tried panning the vocals hard left+hard right, but it just appears as a "whole" vocal. Any plugins that'll do the job? vst preferbly.

Microphone test of vocal microphpones
A couple of Danish producers/engineers, among them Mr. Allan Bregnedahl and Torsten Matthiessen, got together this summer and tested as many microphones as they could get their hands on. A very interesting test, and I thought I would link to it here. It's in Danish, so I will just translate the introduction:
