Patchbays & D-I-Y wiring/cables

I plan to install a few patchbays so I can route/patch my gear and signals better. I'd like to see if it would be worth the time to "build" this network of wiring or maybe spend a little more and purchase everything altogether. I currently patch everything from the board. I know this is'nt the thing to do, but the budget back then was'nt up to par like it is nowadays. Time for change.

Studio Wiring Questions!

I always think that its funny to see a picture of a pro studio and not see any wires what so ever, when I can't even get to my bed in my room because I have everything wired to everything emaginable and its all just laying on the floor. Well I decided that this is just not good enough and I am going to turn my basement into a studio.

Mult wiring

Dear Collective Wisdom,

In an effort to save a few bucks, I'd like to create my own mult (1 TRS into 2 TS) connection. The purpose of this mult is to connect my mixer with a stereo compressor. Will this require connecting the grounds on all three plugs to one another? If so, what's the best cable to use? Thanks, --A novice

Basic wiring questions

I have a small studio with one live tracking room and one control room. We are in the process of adding a vocal booth. I have some outboard preamps I would like to have access to in both the vocal booth and the main tracking room. I need to be able to patch into the inputs of these pres. I am currently using a TRS 1/4" patchbaybut will be upgrading to a TT patchbay soon.
