trying to use my mytek stereo adc as a clock source for my Cubase system. I use a digi 001 as my interface (yeah i know- but i only record one track at a time) and am running into the same hitch

I'm just starting to get into recording. I'd like to set up a mobile studio to record live groups in rehearsal or performance.

Here's what I have:

** 2 X M-Audio Octane 8ch Preamp w/ ADAT Lightpipe
** M-Audio ProjectMix I/O Audio Interface and Control Surface
** MacBook Pro running Logic 8

Can someone explain and give me examples of what word clock, ADAT In's and outs, SPDIF, connections are for ? I've been recording for a little while and its time to expand ! I have an good idea, but I've been wrong before !

I'm currently building a new room capable of 16 input rec and 64out playback with Nuendo 4.

So I'm trying to figure out the most cost effective hi-end converter/master clock combo available with the best performance/price ratio.

i'm looking over the equipment list soon to be installed in a local concert hall i'm associated with... it struck me as strange that the contractor had spec'd out 4 http://www.PreSonus… talking to a Yamaha ls9 digital mixer over ADAT... do i need to be worried about the lack of a master clock?

I'm using a Focusrite ISA428 with the ADC card to clock a Digi 002r via ADAT and the internal Focusrite clock.
I noticed the 428 also has Digi x256 super clock and regular word clock in.

And what are they used for/why are they needed.

I can't seem to find much. Just a general education question, that's all.

I'm going to buy an Rosetta 200, which I plan to connect to my Mac Pro via the Mac's built-in optical SPDIF inputs.

Will this work? Or do I need to get a sound card or other audio interface that has a clock? Will it make a difference in the sound?

I own a PreSonus Firepod :D and want to synchronize usin word clock through S/PDIF conections, but I dont know what I need to buy so that I can have S/PDIF in & out on the computer :?, the less I spend is better :!: becouse I only need S/PDIF for word clock couse in the firepod I already have ADC.
