Master Clocks
I was originally looking into purchasing a Big Ben or Antelope Isochrone, but I now have an opportunity to buy a Lucid SSG192 for half the price (used). I think I'm gonna go for it, but is there anything I should know first?

external clock necessary?
should you use an external clock to connect a digital mixer to a computer?
Yamaha aw4416 mixer ---> ADAT lightpipe ----> RME hammerfall PCI soundcard ----> PC.
(the Yamaha and the RME both have BNC word clock connectors by the way)

Clock Distributors
I need a distributor for my Word Clocking. I have found good prices on used Aardvark and Lucid units. Do any of you have any real-world experience with these and could advise which of the two would be "better"... They both look pretty impressive, but having never used those brands, I wouldn't know. I would be using it to amplify my Apogee master clock (AD16X).

Word Clock, RME and the ADA8000
Hi all,
I've got a quick question. One of my mobile rigs has 3 B* ADA8000's, going via lightpipe to a Nuendo RME/Digi. I've been thinking about maybe tightening up the sync on the setup with wordclock and I'm looking for a reasonably priced clock generator (can't afford Big Ben right now!)

external word clock?
for all you more experienced engineers. I use a Mac G5 MOTU 24i/o Dp4 rig and mix and just about do everything in the computer. My friend said a good upgrade for the money is to buy an external word clock and that is really helps to sync. up your tracks...at least a lot better than the internal clock in my comp/MOTU rig.

Word Clock Questions: Which is Better?
Okay, so we're running a Focusrite 428 into our DigiDesign 002 Rack VIA a newly-installed A/D converter card in the 428.
Immediately we had jittering out the wazoo.
We quickly fixed that by setting the DigiDesign to slave to the 428.

A Word Clock Cannot serve two Masters, "Innie" or
I'm waiting for delivery of an A/D card for my Focusrite Trakmaster which I will output via SPDIF to my Edirol DA-2496. I got the card cheap and want to experiment to see which converters are better. Yes, yes, I know I should have better preamps but I'm focusing on converters for the moment as that is what my current two options are.
