so we have the living room (around 20 by 35ft) and then my practice space (about 10 by 15ft) ones super dry and the other not at all. which should i do drums in?

ill be messing around with 2 mboxes im getting soon and runnig pro tools through my i mac g5. some 57s and i have the shure pg set of drum mics a sennheiser MD 441-U. i have done drums before in our practice space with a really crappy setup and was anle to get some pretty good sounds for what i was working with. i dont know if it makes sense to get that natural room sound, or just go throught the dry studio and then add the reverb and what not. does the mboxx come with decent reverbs i can use?

It just all depents on what you think "good" drum sounds are and how much you know about engineering. I'd go for the bigger room, cover those windows to keep reflections down. Use 2 room mics 10- 12 feet back (watch for phase problems) Close mic snare top and bottom and toms and kick. 2 on the kick if you can, a LD condensor a few feet back is cool . Use the rooms natural sound (hope it sounds good ) don't use the mbox verbs if it has em, you'll just be masking...
If its just for fun your good. If your going for stellar sounds then I'd suggest going to a studio and at least doing the drums. Get a nice gold channel and you can do the over dubs at your place. Good luck
