The Rokit GP2 8 inch is a very bassy cabinet with a slight lack of high-mids. Construction is very cheap. The pots to adjust gain are stepped and do not line up well with markings on the cabinent. On my stereo pair, one gain pot has 2 more steps than the other, how to adjust? I guess just point them north. HF shelf is a very nice feature. XLR inputs seem to have play in them, cables dont secure, and no doubt they would probably fall right out of the socket if tilted backwards.

The Rokit GP2 8 inch have been the best choice for me after playing around with Genelec, Yamaha, and even Adam! I had in my studio some good monitors since I have a friend who gave me the chance to bring some quite expensive units to the studio, since he works on a studio supplies store near me!

I have these monitors for about 2 years now with a RP10S sub and man, they rock! Very secure transients, and as contrary as camsr said, I find no lack at high-mid... you might want to check out your studio set-up... maybe you have to much foam cutting those frequencies to much!

I recommend these babies to anyone who has a mid average studio space... since they are to powerful to small ones!

The lack of high-mids is more like, a lack of sparkle I hear with smaller woofers. They don't shine like the others but they do sound accurate.

That lack of sparkle is a common issue with the 8" near fields of many brands IMO.

A few years ago, after a lot of trials, I chose the KRK V6 IIs for my control room. I got the S10 sub as well, and wired up a latching foot pedal switch to enable/disable it. I originally thought I would need the KRK V8 monitors, but it's quite a small room, and I found I could not position the V8s far enough away for them to sound balanced over the frequency range. The V6/S10 combination sounds balanced and can really shake the room when needed.

I have the KRK Rokit 5. Low budget with a good delivery. According to experienced and well equipped engineers, I have a good pair of sounding monitors. They might not be very flattering or even comfortable to listen to, but they are pretty honest, and they have a way of getting to sound nice on everything, if they sound nice in these. Here is where they compare to the NS 10's from what I've heard.

I thought they where not so good, then I upgraded the analog circuits, of the stereo outputs on my MOTU 828 mk2's, with Black Lion Audio, and bought their Micro Clock. The difference is outstanding.
So the soundcard is in my view just as, and often, more important than the monitors.

I love the KRK Rokit 8 G2's. I use them for mixing, but I also use them to get a better movie and gaming experience.
