If a circuit is designed properly it shouldn't really matter whether it uses tubes, transistors, op-amps, or little mice running around inside an exercise wheel. :D

Unless a circuit is made "colored" sounding on purpose, the differences between tube and solid state should not be apparent unless you drive it into distortion.
