I have a pair of Paradigms on my Internet computer rig. They are veerrrry bassy. I would not ever consider using them for tracking. But I will say that I do a lot of CD burning on this computer and they seem to work well for the final bullsh*t mastering (eq tweaks, normalizing, volume setting) that I do. It seems like if a CD sounds good through them it sounds good on all systems. Sort of like NS 10s but instead of being good for the mid, they are good on the low end..

What model are they?

They are pretty old, I don't think they make them anymore.. TITAN shielded, a bookshelf speaker, with a 6" woofer and a 3 1/4" tweeter. A friend gave them to me about 5 years ago. His Dad is a "audiophile" (please detect sarcasm) and he goes through speakers like most of us go through underwear. One thing I hate about them is they are ported on the rear. You have to keep them off the wall. I have plugged the ports and they are still waaaaay bassy.

When I first started recording, I used a pair of paradigm TITAN speakers. For the money they are great. Supposedly they are flat +-3db from 70hz-15000hz and +- 1db from 70-500hz. They start to dwindle at around 65 hz, but paradigm makes a sub to match, so you can get flat to 25hz.
I read a reveiw in an audiophile mag that compared the sound to that of $2000 speakers.
I think they are a little too nice for recordingmixing as they are very complimentary to upper midrange sounds. After I got fed up with these(partly due to their lack of power handling ability), I could only afford a mission speaker. The Missin M72. I still have these in my control room just for listening. They are very detailed in the upper mids, due to a bigger tweeter and a lower crossover point.
I currently mix on alesis monitor 1's in this room, and tannoy dual concentric 8's in another.
The Titan is decent, however if you can squeeze a few more bucks out, the paradigm mini monitor has tighter, more accurate bass, for only about a hundred bucks more. Same story with the missions.
Also in your travels check out the tannoy reveal. Another good deal for the dollar.

Paradgm do some very good HiFi speakers and some of their subs are very well thought of in Home Theatre circles.

SE Electronics seem to be one of the Chinese mic brigade that are pretty decent. The tube model SE5600 is £400 and got a good review in SOS if this is anything to go by?

I'm using paradigm studio refrence 40's (about 1000 for the pair) and they are really wonderful.. The original titans were bassy, but the titan version 2 is alot more flat overall.... They are great for listning to, and if on a budget would be good for mixing, but the studio refrence lifts a veil off of everything Imaging is much better, as well as transient response. Trebel is smooth and extended, and lows are tight and non-boomy... They really show faults in your recordings.

before anyone gets on my ass, i did try the standard studio monitors (genelec, dynaudio, adams, tannoys, alesis) and the adams came closest, but i thought that the paradigms sounded better in the midrange and were far cheeper.
