Well, it's just a rumor so far but I hear that Digital performer will be available for PC users as early as this spring! Not particularly exciting for myself but still pretty cool.

Well it's about time for that. I've been trying to reconstruct a CD for a friend and former client. Her last CD was done by another studio on Digital Performer. So we went to another studio that also had Digital Performer at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County who also could not open up the previous Digital Performer project. So I've been trying to reconstruct things for her but so much was done, piecemeal on Digital Performer, I can't re-create it . It's a program I've been interested in but not being a Macintosh user, it's been impractical for me. So that sounds interesting. Now they're talking.

Some of these folks are lazy and all Apogee gave me, about PC drivers for their hardware, was a song and dance about only having 40 people in their company so they've never been able to write any PC drivers for their hardware. I mean for heaven sake... we're not even talking about software, we're talking about drivers only.

Heck, even Adobe Audition 5.5 will now also run on Macintosh OS. Never mind that I'm still running version 1.5 & 3.0, I don't have a Macintosh. And I sold my version 2.0 to a client. I mean with all of these Intel processors in so many computers, it's about time they all get on the same wagon. Imagine if you couldn't use any brand of tires on your car? If you're restricted to 1 or 2 tire manufacturers, would you be happy about that? If you're restricted to 1 or 2 brands of gasoline for your vehicle would you be happy about that? What if you could only watch one television network on one brand of television would you be happy about that? It's about time audio guys got together on this stuff too. At least all of our microphones (for the most part) utilize XLR, PIN 2 hot. At least they got together on that.

NAB/CCIR, NTSC/PAL/SECAM...24/25/29.97/30...There we go again.
