Greets,

Can some one suggest a good website that provides current blue book values for buying and selling used audio gear?

All the ones I've found already either charge money or don't specialize in audio gear. I've used Ebay before - but of course it doesn't really give the blue book value - only a general idea.

Cheers

There is no" bluebook" to my knowledge. Like all things the short answer is whatever the market will bear. I use ebay as a lowest caveat emptor and then balance that with reputable sites that resale and also the reputable bb's that have a FS section. Selling gear where it can be tried out or verifyed functioning will generally garner higher returns.

There used to be a bluebook, I don't know if there still is or not. It cost dealers a pretty penny and it had prices depending on condition [great, good, fair, poor]. And just like the Kelley Blue Book for cars - you'd see a dramatically different price if you were the buyer than if you were the seller. Anyway, that was back when people did most of their wheeling and dealing at their local music store. Unfortunately, now eBay pretty much dictates an item's resale value. Do an "Advanced Search" for "Completed Listings" and see at what price-point the item actually sold in recent auctions. Don't just look at the asking prices of active auctions.

There is a blue book set for audio and music gear. It is by Orion, They may have web access by now. It is only a guide and the true value of many items are way out of wack.

Before ebay it was the only source other than someone with direct used gear value experience. Music stores and pawn shops often buy them. Paid updates are issued every year for those that buy them.

Used gear value also flucuates by region. East coast vs West coast - USA vs Europe.

There is also [[url=http://[/URL]="http://SoundBroker…"]Buy & Sell: SoundBroker.com - Linking Buyers and Sellers[/]="http://SoundBroker…"]Buy & Sell: SoundBroker.com - Linking Buyers and Sellers[/] They have been dealing used gear since (at least) the time recording.org started in 1999 . Maybe not the exact answer to your question but they are definitely up on it all and could answer your question.
