voice removal software

this may be a stupid question but i'll try anyway. Is there such a thing as a program that can remove a vocal part from a track? I f so what are they called and who makes them?

Nothing in software or hardware works good enough consistantly to meet most people expectations. Having said that, the Thomson Vocal Elimintar VE-2+ I bought over 20-years ago still seems to work best.
