Hi All,

I just picked up this unit a couple of days ago for my bedroom/project studio. I only got a couple of hours so far to toy around with it and to my ears the acoustic guitar I was recording sounded a bit wavy.

I was screwing around with the sample rate, I figured I might as well try it on the highest settings, so I switched the unit to 48kHz and Cubase to 48kHz. Could this be where the problem lies? How do these settings actually affect the sound quality?

Does anyone else have any experience with this mixer or heard anything about them. I was trying to wait out the Onyx 400f (mmmmm, Onyx Pre's) but Mackie was just bought out by Loud and they won't ship to Canada for another 6 weeks. This Alesis unit seemed like a good bargain (16ch, 8 pre's, fx, two aux buses, all for less than the Onyx 400f).

I'm kinda interested, also, in other peoples opinion of Alesis mixers (I know it doesn't matter what YOU think, only what I think, but humor me) as far as sound quality goes. It sounds pretty decent to me, aside from the slight (and I mean slight) wavyness on the tracks I was recording last night. All in all, I'm really happy with this mixer, it does just what I need and might even be a little over kill, I doubt I'll use that many channels any time soon.
