I'm going to be using this primarly for recording electric guitar direct but also for vocals. I'll be running my pedals through the tube pre into an ADA Microcab then into my emu 1212m.
feel free to recommend other preamps if you think both of these will suck with electric guitar.

I havent used either with Electric Guitar, but I can say the Brick is smoother (less shrill) than the Pro-Channels' Preamp on Male Vocals.
I personally didn't like the Brick as an Acoustic DI on a Martin DM w/Pickup (The Brick wouldn't get "Squeaky Clean" for me?). I think my U5 is better for this task (and also $150 more!).
If you want a descent Opto/Tube Compressor/Limiter and some OK Tone Shaping (EQ), the Pro-Channel is the way to go (you can even use all 3 sections individually if desired - pretty cool IMO). For a "no-frills" 3-tube pre-amp stage, the Brick is a better choice IMO. The Pro-Channel can also benefit GREATLY from some good tubes, where as the Brick already has pretty good tubes out of the box. It is also easier to overdrive the Pro-Channel since it has post gains to bring the level back under control (the Brick only has one control - Pre Gain. So external padding will likely be needed if you want tube saturation).
