So after a fair amount of background work, a friend of mine is assembling a computer for me (with components I've purchased) - I simply can't afford to buy one already built. A feature one typically reads about is the so-called "tweaking" to optimize for pro audio. Some dealers boast of numerous tweaks that they do. What type of things are these folks doing to optimize? If you have the experience, I'd love to have your input.

Part of what you pay for from a good DAW builder is the expertise and knowledge they have to deliver a complete, optimized tested system. That has value. Just because you can use the search function on the net or a forum, doesn't mean that you will be able to do or know the specific tweaks and just as imporatant, what not to tweak no matter how much you research.

Then again, there are some DAW builders that don't do any more than slap some stuff together from the list off of a good DAW builider and then search the net to do some basic tweaks never testing or knowing if they are needed, improve performance or degrade performance.
