As I am cleaning up content for better search results, fixing misspelled keywords I am wondering what is the correct spelling for the word converter vs converter?

There are approx:

  • 659 matching results with "converter" .
  • 8,818 matching results with "converter".

I suspect converter is the correct spelling and feel I should correct all the posts where this has been misspelled.
Boswell and please, others... How do you spell this?

Note, if someone is searching for information and misspells a word, the search engine will only pull up the misspelled word. Their are ways around this but the general public doesn't know that as we just type and accept what shows.

Well, it's different for the younger age group where something terrible is often said to be 'pants' which is odd, but in day to day use and in shops, your pants are trousers, and our pants are what you wear under your trousers - as in boxers, trunks, briefs etc. That probably doesn't really help. Many people call trousers by what they are - so jeans, chinos, joggers - which makes it worse, I guess.

Girls wear knickers, boys wear pants, although now girls tend to say pants too. Plus they wear tights, not pantyhose. We also smile at American movies where many people seem to have strange elastic things to keep up socks. Never seen them here. Some people here still wear braces to keep trousers up, but I think in the US these could be suspenders, while here, suspenders keep stockings up, mainly thank goodness on girls. I think Bras are bras both sides. Technically, I'm actually American, I guess - my dad was in the USAF here, and went back to the US, not even knowing about me! Sadly, by the time I found all this out, he had died back in the US.
