Get it replaced but first, make sure that it's not the right output of your interface. Just switch the cables for a while and see what happens.

Thats good advice. Crackle is often is caused by a intermittent connection. This could be a faulty cable, connector, solder joint.

The sound was quiet before, but it seems to have gone away now. If it returns I will try that. Thanks.
