I'm planning to go in for a surround monitoring setup. I've got strong recommendations for the Dynaudio AIR 6 or 15 against the Mackie HR824. Even SOS has given them a good review.

The Airs are complete with control software and bass management system, but are more expensive.

Does anyone have any experience with them?

Compared to the Mackie's, I highly prefer the Dynaudios (6 or 15). Dynaudio presented a better clarity, image and responded better in the mid and high ranges.

If you are looking for monitors in the range of the Dynaudio, I would add ADAM S2/2.5/3 to your list. It was a very hard decision between the Air15s and the ADAMs. Dynaudios won out when I played the soundtrack and sound design material which is more inline with my focus. I found the detail and separation to be better (minor degrees) with the AIRs.

If I was tracking bands and mixing, the S3 would be hard not to choose. They are certainly a rich sounding monitor. It was their forwardness that ultimately I found concerning.

we have m3p, and used to have genelec 1032 (which was one of worst equipment choices we did) and i can say that i am now a dynaudio fan . i am also thinking about buying air 20 or 25 for the second studio. even that i did not hear any of air series speakers, i think they are much better than 1032 or bm15 or hr824. three-way system is a way to go.

Even the listenings that i've done with the Genelec haven't really made an impact... sometimes, they almost seemed harsh in the high end...
well, this is except for the 1036s.. i think they sound really good.. but i don't think i can afford those right now..
i heard the 1037s today and again -- not really impressive..

i remember the some of the dynaudios that i've worked on and they don't sound as harsh.. and therefore i derive that it would be easier working long hours on them..

random logic, now since you're getting Air 20s or 25s, what's your take on those vs. the M3Ps?

thanks.

i did not hear any of air speakers, but in other studios i did work on m1+sub (i still really like this system), bm 15, bm 6 and now m3 in my place . i disliked bm15 and liked bm6. so i just believe that air 20 or 25 sound great. my opinion is that three-way speaker system is cruicial for detailed overall sound and dynaudio seems to deliver what i need.
