Please? :)

I recently got a RME Multiface for my daw and would like to use the 8 additional tracks from my ADAT XT 20 for a total of 16 in. Any ideas on how to do this? Would I need to have a tape in record mode? Dont really want to record to the ADAT at all, just use its converters.

A few random neuron firings:
1. The XT20 is 20bit. Would it be possible to use it in conjustion with the Multiface, even if the multiface is set to 24bit 96k?

2. What about synchroninization? Can the ADAT chase the multiface? how is this done?

Thanx!

Hey bop , I have a XT20 also and I know it's only able to do 48k max. It will do 24bit though. And for your sync issues , you'll need a syncronizer. Two companies to look at would be: JL Cooper , & Motu. I use a Motu MTPA/V which has an Adat "sync out" serial connector that's controled by my DAW software. I never had to touch the transport buttons on the Adat because they were control via Cubases transport. Personally I don't think your multiface card has Adat sync capabilities. Oh by the way , the Adat has 20 bit converters going in & 24 bit going out.
