Hi, I wonder if anybody could help me. I'm in a band and we're going to be recording and mixing our new demo on Logic Platinum 5.5 for PC.

I'm thinking about purchasing a new pair of monitor speakers and stereo amplifier and I don't really know what to look for and where to search! If anybody could give me some pointers as in where to search and what I'm ideally looking for in regards to amplifier power.

Any help would be great.

Cheers

well considering my budget will prob be about £200, I was thinking about buying an amplifier, but does anyone know what sort of wattage i'll be looking at if it's just for monitoring in a home studio?

Is 30 - 40 Watts powerful enough or too powerful? Any help would be much appreciated as I'm pretty much in the dark at the moment!

Cheers

I wouldn't ever recommend mixing with your home stereo like someone mentioned. The only thing I'd use it for is to see if your mixes translate well to it. I'm not sure what to tell you to get thats cheap, i have bx5's but the suck ass. I now use event asp8's and event 20/20 bas v2's and its so easy to get a really really good mix in no time. My advice would be to save up as much as you can and get some quality monitors, maybe even look at the cheaper events.

I'm not really sure how shipping internation works for some of these site but i like, musiciansfriend.com, sweetwater.com, or americanmusical.com. american musical is cool because you can split the total sales price over 3 months, so if its 900 bucks its only 300 a month on a credit card with no interest or extra fees.
