What I have:

Sonar 7 PC
Mackie Onyx 1220
Roland VS 2480 with meter bridge
ART TPS II Tube Pre
Fostex 3070 Compressor
ART SGE GUITAR PREAMP & EFFECTS PROCESSOR

Basically I record into Sonar 7 through my Mackie Onyx fire wire. As mostly I am tracking hip hop vocals for myself. I decided to dive into the world of recording abut kind of got tangled up in all these cords. .No pun intended. .Right now I am basically Running all my drum mics to my VS-2480 and dumping a two channel mix to my onyx 1220. the VS-2480 is used basically just for drums to run through since Im limited with the xlrs on the 1220. Heres where my confusion lies. I want to use this Rack Gear I have but am unsure how to go about this. Remember Im using this for recording not for live shows.

Any advice?

Thanks

Yep.

Put the Art tube pre, the Fostex compressor and the Art guitar pre into a closet.

Then work with Sonar and the Mackie Onyx until you can get what you want out of it. It's in there, but you have to get it out.
And all these other pres are not much more then a distraction at this point in time. Get to know the core gear and move out from there.

So as far as the VS-2480 goes

I need this to mic all my drums....I heard you can use the 2480 with sonar--how does this work? Anyone know....

Heres a link to some sounds we have created:

let me know what you think---

One thing I have always had trouble with is mixing the vocals...I hate when they sound thin and not within the track--I cant afford the avalon 747 so I guess until then I will just keep pushin....
