Just wondering what the gurus say - I use a Yamaha AW4416 and the editing is terrible! So I plan to pick up an ADAT card for my PC and fly tracks over for editing. As I have a few MIDI boxes (drums, keyboards) but don't normally use MIDI much at all, I was thinking now's the chance to get everything connected and synced up. An added benefit would be bouncing tracks over to the PC and having the ability to mix down more than the 16 the AW4416 has (as there are plenty of extra inputs available at mixdown), all syncronized together.
So, I've found a card that does ADAT and MIDI (Hammerfall DSP with the Digiface interface), but it's pricy. I don't know if there are other equally good alternatives, or if perhaps I would be better off with a separate ADAT card and separate MIDI card.
I'm looking for a clean and professional installation, that is solid and reliable (i.e. can be used in a production environment).

From what I've heard, Frontier is less than helpful regarding drivers, I know someone who uses one.
What about my question - pro's/cons of all-in-one vs separate MIDI and ADAT card(s)? IRQ's? Driver conflicts? Or flexibility & custom solutions. Stability and compatabliity are paramount to me.

Look at the Wavecenter PCI..I think that's your best solution for your Audio interface issues with the AW4416..also regarding midi there's tons of choices for MIDI interfaces..MOTU...MIDIMan..EMagic..Steinberg(Which is actually MIDIMan with Steinberg's name on it). Hope that helps
