Hey folks,
I am trying to help a friend of mine figure out what components to use to build a good Nuendo computer, but don't need the "latest greatest" fastest and most expensive components. Can you guys tell me (us) what you would recommend in terms of very good components that might have been used a year ago to build a strong DAW for Nuendo (most likely 24 tracks total with a few plugs going). If this is a stupid way to go about it, feel free to tell me that too. We're just trying to get best bang for the buck here. Thanks.

Really depends on your budget. But you'd probably want to look at Intel P4 CPU's @ 800FSB and around the 2.8 to 3.0GHz region on an Abit Or Asus 865PE or 875P chipset motherboard. For an AMD DAW look at the Athlon XP 2600+ to 3000+ CPU's again on Abit or ASus motherboard with a NForce2 Chipset. You'll also want at least 1Gig of DDR400 memory from Corsair, OCZ, Geil, Mushkin, Kingston or Crucial. A quiet PSU from Antec, Zalman, SilenX, Vantec or Thermaltake. The E-MU 1820m Audio card has had rave reveiws so far, or even look at offerings from M-Audio, RME and Echo. A AGP graphics card like a NVidia Geforce FX5200 or even Radeon 9200. For cases look at Lian-Li, Antec. Cheiftec, Thermaltake and Zalman.
