Howdy

It seems as if June 23rd is the "big day" for the new G5. Stores have apparently received boxes with "do not open until the 23rd" stamped on them. A few images have appeared online, most of which are fake.

Speculation ranges from dual 5GHz machines (yeah, right) to a sub $1k G4 (hmm...). Low end models reported to be available immediately along with a new laptop.

What have y'all heard? Discuss the scuttlebutt...

Howdy,

There's a post on Gearslutz.com about them. Supposedly it's a new enclosure with aluminum sides. There's a drive bay for 5 drives that can be rotated 90 degrees so you can use it as either a desktop or tower. Front FW 800 port, and audio ports. On the back 2 FW 800 ports, 2 USB and 1 USB 2.0, ethernet, ADC, DVI and 4 PCI slots. New keyboard and (get this) a 2 button mouse.

That's a paraphrase of what's posted over there. Sounds nice. Now we just need more software support. :D

Howdy

Yeah, I read the gearslutz and macrumors posts...very, very interesting. The only stinker is the software. For me, its mostly cool because I'm a Logic guy but I need plugs to be ported into OSX. That's the only thing holding me up.

Although, I could get by the next few months with a DP 1.25. That will get me through my next set of productions and mixes. So, I'm thinking this introduction will slam the prices of the dual boots right down...hopefull.

Hope springs eternal...!
