Here's my situation.
I'm going to be a part of an all analog session for my own band (though I do recording myself, I'm going to have another engineer who's been doing all analog sessions for a longer period of time than myself.
Recording format is 16 track 1" teac machine. Will be using 456 running at 15ips +6.
there's a console at the facility right now, but i'm looking for something that I can use for my session, looking for lots of color. (board they have is more of a cleaner console, I don't mind it really, but just exploring my options).
Having "AWESOME" preamps isn't really my main concern, my main concern is the consoles overall tone, mixbus, eq sound, and flexability (how many parametrics/shelves/etc).
This will be an all analog session, not even use digital reverb, (this place has a tape delay and another old school verb unit I forget off hand).
Genre is noodly punk rock. dude and chick vocals. will obviously be pressed to vinyl since I'm going to doing all this work to keep it all analog. And its not a nerdy "analog/vinyl is better, bla bla bla". I've just recorded digital for years now, and I want a challenge, and also get back to tape, let the colors come out... so to speak.
Any recommendations? I don't care about brand names. I just care about cool colored tones, and routing options that will be geared toward all analog tape recording.

I get to record like this a lot. It is sort of a trendy selling point of my studio. As the others have mentioned the clean console will be great. My console is about as clean as they come and works perfectly for this. I guarantee you that 99% of the color will be the band. One of the things I really like doing is putting a room mic in an ISO booth. I don't worry about smacking tape as hard as I once did. Remember that back in the day with all the cool colored tones engineers like Neve, and studer were trying to make transparent equipment. Using this type of gear in its least colored way can give more depth and still retain loads of character. When mixing try the "echo chamber in the bathroom" trick. Don't forget to use the spring reverb on a guitar amp on things other then guitars for some fun as well.
