Hi guys

I want to replace the valves in a Behringer 1952 that I have. I will use one channel to compress bass and the other for guitar.

Any sugestions on what tubes I should be looking at?

Thanks
Kuzan

Kuzan,
For compression 12AT7's are really nice. They give you just a slight reduction in gain and tighten the low's really well.

I'm really fond of the JAN Philips 12AT7WC for compression and Mullard 12AT7WL's. Sylvania's are also exceptional as are GE's and RCA's.

12AU7's will give you a difference voicing that's really smooth and stay away from 12AY7's because they can get a little mushy in a tube compressor.

If you can't get any of those tubes where you are you should at least be able to latch onto a pair of Tesla/JJ ECC83S cheap. They're a quality tube with an extremely smooth response.
