Hi folks,
Here is the problem, I am transfering 2 songs for a client from ADAT, each song is on 3 ADATS, and tape 1 and 3 trabsfer fine, but, tape 2 is faster, and in the worng key all vocals sound like munchkins.
Looking at the previous studios, track sheets it looks like it was recorded on pro tools and ADAT and that the studio transfered the tracks form Pro Tools, to ADAT at the wrong sample rate, (this is my guess), Is there a way of geting tape 2 back to the original sample rate (44.1?)?. I have transfered tapes one and 3 with no trouble, into a 24 bit the session sample rate is 48000.

How good are your A/D converters? If you've got nice A/D converters, take the analog out of the ADAT, into the analog in to your converters.
Since you're dumping these in already, you probably already have it locked up, but if not; make SURE that you lock the two devices together via SMPTE (if you're not using PT LE). Also hook up a word clock cable if you haven't done so already.
Doing a A/D D/A conversion would be choice if you've got decent converters. However, you could probably bring them into another ProTools session and do a sample rate conversion...which can be ugly...and can take FOREVER. When I say ugly, I mean it could make things sound bad. The mathmatical conversion from 48000 to 44100 is REALLY ugly...and therefore often adds artifacts to the sound. At any rate, if you do it this way, make sure that again, you lock the two devices together at 44100 when you bring it in. It may not align up perfectly after you convert it to 48000...but it should...and could, as long as you've got them locked up properly. I'd try one track and see how it works, as I've never been in your situation.
Third option, go back to the studio that dumped it onto the ADAT at 44100...and slap them silly....and have them redo the dump. Actually, that would be the best thing to do...
