You are all missing the ball on this one, as of many other posts that can be flipped into problem based learning. Its a free lesson and opportunity to education, put right in our hands. I am glad some are not mods. There are too many loose cannons quick to execute someone, yes, spamming us but he was polite and also he is trying. I hear his problem. Its not spam. he is over processing . Give me that mix. I'll take a whirl at it and try to give an example that will turn this around. He calls it tremendous. I say BS. Let us have the tracks and we'll show tremendous. Its not using plugins like that.

Removing this would be our loss. We loose the ability to use examples, mix it better, show why and how by turning this off.

I'm still waiting for audio examples from more of us. How are we helping any of us without audio examples? Mix this one . Call him out and lets hear a better example?

You are reactive and not seeing how this gold here.
It isn't spam in the least. Well it is if you let it only be that. Its being indexed here, not there, and this my friends is helping people reading it to now. Think again.

Okay cool Brien... time is currently still on our side with this. He hasn't left and maybe he wants to see this another way. I mean, aren't we all trying to improve our skills? Isn't he? Okay, I agree, he is spamming us and posting this exact thread elewhere but lets not let that spoil the fun.

Look at the google rating on this one.

OP, do us all a favour. Please make your tracks ( of the same example you are sharing here) available to those who want to give it a whirl?

I deleted it in the hope that it would let things cool down a bit. I figured you would resurrect it eventually. I just wanted the thread to have a "time out", as it had drifted into personal insults.

I have no problem with someone posting a process that they've discovered works for them. As long as they understand that when doing so, they are opening themselves up to a critique to the process.

If you can't accept that, or are gonna get pissed off if someone disagrees with you, then you're better off not posting.

hee hee hee ...... he did get all bunched up there at the end didn't he? lol ..... :ROFLMAO: cracks me up.

as soon as he resorted to person attack i knew he had nothing left. there is a post where he got very outside that is missing. did he delete it or did a mod do something with it?

oh well, it was fun.

Look like he's gone but has this same info posted on a few other forums so... for the sake of references to this content, it can be found here. http://homerecording.com/bbs/general-discussions/mixing-techniques/tremendous-bass-tone-how-mix-bass-guitar-369784/

Also, notice, RECORDING ORG is the only forum on the planet challenging people to crack this BS spewing throughout the "Affordable Recording" industry .
If you follow where I'm going, and want to really want to make a difference ( to everyone), allow people to remix or contribute to proving claims that plug-ins and processes are really all they say they are.
As it sits, I think its time to challenge everything via A/B audio examples .

The OP had the opportunity to redeem himself . To confirm what claims to be useful, is actually worth doing. (n)

As it sits, this post is added to the (virtual list in my mind) of affordable recording BS.
I think we should create a forum called, Affordable Recording BS.

BTW, I'm not saying you can't sound stellar all ITB. I love Samplitude, its all I need, hybrid is simply like having heated leather seats and tires for each season. I can corner and get to the finish line and possibly go where no daw has gone before. I'm hoping I can sell off all I have and get the same results with a stock DAW and one mic some day.
What I'm saying, do we need 50 third party plug-ins and this as an example on how to do it? Are they really helping us?
This guys music and results sound common to me. I know I could get superior sound without all that processing 100% ITB.
Is this really what newbies need? Or, do they need a few of me to challenge and demystify the GAS over plug-ins. To me, its way out of control. I say, this isn't just a newbie problem, 95 percent of the mass are way out of control with this nonsense. We have been supporting what I think is total bs.

it's the ease. you can heap on compression, eq, image shifting, pitch shifting, more eq, limit... etc... on every single channel, and again with multiband crap on the master bus.
It's too easy. Kid in a candy store. No soup for you.

Maybe one of those windows (tm) warning popups for newly installed softwares so when you go cranking the ratio too high or threshold real low, or Q setting too tight, or boost an eq more than 3 or 4 db or using a damn exciter *at all*... a window pops up "THESE SETTING ARE KNOWN TO HAVE A CRAPPY EFFECT ON SOUND", please select ok to continue :)

Have you ever ventured out onto a forum that would appeal to young "beat makers" or "producers" or whatever the hell they call themselves now? It's a damn mess of bad information. Horribly bad info. Lump all this together and you get tutorials on the ultimate bass processing mess.

audiokid Thu, 06/19/2014 - 10:28

Exactly. Go to Gearslutz now. Its about 75% EM users spewing this crap out. Not to mention, Pro's I know claiming a $7000 master clock is helping their mix "sound better". Its not helping sound better, its forcing their out of sync, out of "control" digital latency plagued chain to stay in sync a bit better. Clueless perception to why its all fuck ed up in the first place....

(cigarette warning) lol! Warning these plug-ins may be bad for your health!

i think a lot of people suffer from placebo effect when it comes to processing. plugs or hardware. someone spends a butt load of cash on something ...... so of course it has to have a positive effect. not so grasshoppers.

any processing of a signal degrades said signal. processing may make something work better in a mix but it doesn't make something sound better. how can that be, you might ask? best case scenario; the way classical music is recorded. mic(s) to pre(s) to tape (daw) to speaker(s). it doesn't get better than that. anything else adds noise and interferes with the fidelity of the sound.

but much like soloing a track out of context and tweaking it to sound it's best, the purest signals may not sit well in said mix. so the gods of recording developed and invented signal processors. (ok, e.q,'s were invented to "fix" certain issues in long distance transmission lines.)

there's no such thing as a "goodulator".

all the plugs this guy used to achieve this so called "tremendous sound", it's no wonder it sounds like ass.
