Obviously i am new to the whole new computer based recording scene. My first question for this forum is what is the minimum amount of ram you need in any setup? I am currently loaded with 2gb. thanks

Me, I've got a laptop running with 512 and I can do lots with it...24+ tracks.
If you are using a plug-in that uses a lot of large samples, then you should have the maximum amount of memory that you're computer can handle.
There is no minimum as such; it depends what you are doing. 2 gi
