I have been looking for any feedback on these systems. I ead about them on the Digidesign website. I am thinking about going from Apple to the PC and found the M6-R to be quite interesting. They are built by Terra Digital Audio, www,terradigitalaudio.com Or let me know if you have another suggestion. I use Pro Tools HD on a Power Mac G4.

Why would you pay Mac money for an OEM PC? You could build a better system for half that.

There's nothing exotic in that box, except Digi's stamp of approval. If you aren't comfortable enough in the PC world to fly without that, you are probably better off just buying the "Fastest Computer In The World" from you-know-who. Besides, running ProTools on an x86 platform would defeat the entire point -- which should be disentagling yourself from Digi and Apple's proprietary systems and the cult that surrounds them.

/agree on the G5, you're already commited, best not to take chances.

There are a lot of people using windows machines for both LE and HD systems and both are very very happy.

As long as you go with what people have had success with you should be just fine. Remember that if you want to save money and not be controlled by Apple's OS issues and lack of letting third party drivers run devices, then use a windows machine. For example....Tiger OS X..WTF?! That completely killed Pro Tools and many other applications as well as having TONS of bugs....only way to cure was to either revert back to the last OS X version(Whatever animal name that was!) or wait for Pro Tools to develop a new version to work with Tiger(6-8 weeks minimum wait!!)

Again, I'm sure a flame war between Mac and PC users will occur(as they usually do) but it's a fact that BOTH platforms can do what you need them to do.

Whatever you are most comfortable with...USE! Plain and simple.

Coming here for advice on the components is good but I would truly stick to the DUC where most of the experienced people for HD or LE systems are.

Cheers

I honestly don't see the benefit. A PC is great because it is customizable and there are so many configuration options, and usually cheaper than a Mac. But if you are going to have to get a certain PC configuration that costs about as much as a G5, I think you might as well stick to a Mac (which ProTools is known to work happily with [for the most part]).

To expensive for a PC, don't see the added value.

Opus, just did an HD installation on a G5. worked the first time no tweaking required, easy money.

Tiger didn't break PT, Digi just took it's sweet time certifying, nothing unusual though. Just a driver adjustment.

I've been looking but I don't see any bugs on my Tiger windshield, exactly what are these bugs?

As a tech and consultant I want to Know.
