Ya know what? I dont see what the hype is about it yet..maybe due to the fact that my system is pretty outdated I cant see a difference between XP and 2K! Dont get me wrong..my system is pretty damn fast for what it has in it!
With this new gig o mine a dual PIII 1GHz machine is for me!
Win2k and XP Pro are pretty much made for dual proc systems with SCSI drives and all! I definitely can feel a smoother handling of the applications but I dont see a better performance as of yet! Plus I tell you...the f**king installation and authorization for Waves and TC Native Bundle really really sucks big time! Once you do get Waves installed it's fine.
Otherwise everything works like it should..there's a hell of a lot more tweaks to do but..oh well! I might have the Optimization Doc Available for XP tomorrow..we'll see!

Tell us about your XP eXPerience..everyone that is that is trying it out..

Peace

My Dad just got a new puter that came with XPhome.
Compared to MacOS9, I've always hated the way Win98SE goes the long way around to get anywhere, and XP is even worse. Using XP is like "taking the scenic route"...ooohhh, pretty colors...aahhhhh, pretty icons. I think my Dad is "enjoying the view", but about all he does is check email and trade stocks. I spent quite a few hours getting his puter set-up for him, fetching current updates, downloading the necessary stuff that doesn't come on a new puter, and tweaking the system a little. To me, XP is like 98 with a new coat of paint and more "beating around the bush". Yuck.
I've been gathering the parts for a PC tower piece by piece for a few months now to replace my K6-300. I got a Creative Labs 52x CD-ROM, Sony floppy drive, Western Digital harddrive, Logitech Trackman Marble, Appian Jeronimo Pro dual-monitor video card, and I have a case/Amd-approved 300 watt PS on it's way. All I need now is a AthlonXP cpu, an iwill XP333 mobo, and 1024Mb DDR SDRAM. Ultra 320 SCSI technology is due to be in full-swing by mid-2002, so I'm holding-out til then for a new CD burner and hard drives...going to cost more than the rest of the puter, lol. There's no way in Hell I would run W98SE or WXP, so I'm going with W2000.
Why the PC when I have a G4? My goal is to have my Soundscape RED32 system in 2002!

oh...RED system eh? Mackie owns them now...little birdie somewhere told me I'll be doing some testing with that....hmmm!!!! he he he he
System sounds like it's going to rock there SOS!!!
XP takes a few tweaks that's for sure...Home is under powered..Pro is the way to go..I've seen more sudden restarts with XP than any other of the OS's...indeed 2K is still the way to go for now...
