Or, what to do when you have more than one microphone open next to another microphone that's also open and you get that terrible cloudy sound? For that there are a couple of suggestions usually followed. Try to keep them at least 6 feet apart in distance. If you can, insert a noise gate. Put them on a stereo compressor so they track together. Reverse/invert the phase of one of the two microphones. Ride your levels aggressively.
