Can someone lead me in the right direction please?

I'm looking to build a home studio just to mess around on and record demos or whatever. I'm looking to spend in the range of 2000-2500. I know its not a lot but I have no idea what i'm supposed to get. I"m going to be recording a band I know i need to be able to record more than 4 or 8 tracks at once. I'm just all confused on what I need.

1 of the 2 MBOX TRS outputs is weaker all of a sudden?

i have a simple pro tools 6.9 / mbox / powerbook g4 rig with powered krk speakers. randomly today i noticed the right channel was significantly softer than usual. i got a signal, just super soft. one of my TRS outputs (line output 2) was like 70% weaker than my other output. it's not the speakers or the cords, because i tested them all through line output 1 and it worked fine.

Ok guys - tell me what you think of this...

Hey,

In case you don't already know. I'm a thirteen year old kid who records his own music. I setup a pretty nice home studio, and created this song a couple of months ago.

It just dawned on me while reading these forums that I should post the song up here and take some positive criticism on what to improve on/change/etc...

Help! Lots of stuff to be figured out...

Ive been recording using a Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS's Mic in line for awhile now, and am finally deciding to take the plunge into mutlitrack recording.

I am a huge fan of Pro Tools and would like to use that as my sequencer, but I've heard way to many bad things about the digi002 (mainly regaurding the pre's and the control surface)
