Hello, I’m an aspiring audio engineer and I am looking to build a home studio for Rap/HipHop. I have a few questions I couldn’t really find anywhere online, the first one being that does the audio interface matter if I’m purchasing the preamp. I am aware that there are preamps built into the audio interface, but i want to achieve a cleaner and better sound by buying the pieces separately.

Way back in the day (late 80's) I used to shop at Guitar Center in San Jose and I used to haggle and butt heads with some real douche bags at that store. Back then if you didn't do your price research, you got taken advantage of. It was like negotiating at a car dealership.

I’m reading up on the AT4047 and tyevsorc sheet says it has a transformer-coupled output.

• What does a transformer coupled output mean?
• How does it effect the character of a mic or the micpre choices?

I grabbed the upgrade, cant wait to try this version out. With surround sound support, per band m/s, and per band dynamic eq, this is packin' some serious heat.

Any Fostex users out there? I forget my model number - 8 track recorder (4 tracks at a time) with CD burner. I'm seeking advice regarding the order in which the tracks should be recorded and how they should be mixed. I have some M Audio speakers - which tend to sound "muddy". I'll get a mix that sounds good in the headphones only to have it sound like crap through the speakers.

I still struggle with getting my Mando like so sound as good as is does live. It was recorded with my pickups thru an LR Baggs DI. It seems closer than using my large diaphragm mic. Maybe a ribbon mic is next purchase. So damn spendy

I eq it by boosting the lows cutting mids and highs just a touch

Im considering getting into some home studio stuff and would like to find a great program to use...the tricky part...I need to be able to use it without internet connection and also would need one with great drum loops. I'm a guitarist and singer/songwriter, so all I need is a drum solution to start tracking songs.
