I am building a vocal booth in my apartment, on top of an existing wood finished floor that is not insulated and rather old.

I originally built a plywwood deck on top of 2X4 joists decoupled with u boats, but after reading Rod Gervais' book decided to dismantle the entire floor and just double up on the plywood.

Assuming the musician performance is pristine.
What would be the most important part of our job as audio engineer to get the best recording?

Hello all; long time no see! I hope you all are well.

I was asked to do a cover of this song; a different singer will be singing the final. This is the instrumental version, and I am wanting to solicit your advice. There are a lot of textures in here I'm not used to using, so I am a bit nervous. This isn't a paying gig, but it is a very special one, so I want to get it right.

I have a hard time finding honest knowledgeable feedback to better some songs, thought I would see what you guys think. I recorded this in my basement all on a RODE NT1 using an acoustic guitar and a Roland Octa-Capture. Mixed it on the new garageband, the drums are done using there new auto drummer feature, worked pretty well I thought.

My apologies if this is obvious to everyone I'm relatively new to recording. I have had some issues with my dynamic mics and 1/4" inputs having no high-end . I have a roland octa-capture thats worked great as an interface and for some reason every time I try using 1/4 or a dynamic mic I just get a really quiet all bass muffled sound.

It was a hard song to mix because of the 4 part guitar being played with the same guitar. But I think I made it interesting. What do you think ?

Curious, who here is also into recording Live Concerts? Ive been recording for 10+ years, and currently recording onto a Zoom F8 with Neumann KM184, and AKG 300 with caps.

Love to hear who else out there records concerts? I am into The ABB, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, etc.
