Cluster Size
So I got my new system built and I created a special hardware profile for recording and was ale to have services shutdown with the profile. Everything is flying! ;)
I was thinking about reformatting my audio drive with an optimized cluster size. Is 64k the best way to go?
If what they say at musicxp.net is correct my 80gig drive should already be 64k clusters.

Pentode Triode sound explained?
Could someone attempt to describe what Pentode / Triode sound like? I believe the Crane Song HEDD unit actually has these as controls. If you can, please explain WHY they sound like they do as well. (And for love of god try not to be ambiguous and say something like "it sounds analog")

Who are you anyway
Hey guys. Just wanted to get an idea of who all are here. I mean in your relationship to HD recording. Do you consider yourself a songwriter, a musician, a producer, or an engineer, or a mixture of the above, and then some? I am sure most of us are a combination of the above, if so, how so? Are you 60% composer, 85% producer? Are you a pro, are you an amatuer, are you a hobbiest?

So what's the scoop on the "powered plugins? "
I've been holding off on buying an outboard reverb and/or effects unit untill I get the real word on the Macki/UAD and TC Powercore cards.
In theory, the added dsp power should mean more complex algorythms and therefore better reverbs and sound effects, right?
Synthesizer Heaven
I just bought the Nord lead 3! WOOHOO! :(
Friends = A synthawhat? :confused:
So at least I know someone reading this might say o' cool!
So! I highly recommend it! It's quite a fine instrument. Probably won't take me more than about a year to learn to program it. I'm used to prog. the ms2000, but it pales in comparison.
Anyone here use one?

Networking the DAW pc
So I think my final decision is to have the backups run on another coputer and backup my audio shares ond my DAW from the other computer.
This way I can cut back the services that need to run on my DAW pc.

DAW and outboard effects
I have a modest setup of a Mac, Cubase 5.1, a Tascam US428 and a Virus Indigo. What would be the best way to incorporate a Joemeek compressor, and a Lexicon reverb into my setup?
I am not clear of getting these outboard effects
into my present system. Would I need an additional piece of hardware?
Thanks in advance
