The Epic Laptop Quest
Forums
As tempting as it is to start the PC vs Mac battle, I won't. I would actually like to get somewhere in this thread. So first off, Hi everyone howdy! I'm Elfo. A trilingual travelling musician, producer, DJ, street dancer/performer. I am producing with my Sony Vaio laptop at the moment. I use the Korg Kronos 61 key as well. My Daw is Cubase 5 soon to be 7.

Web Instrument Count Experiment (WICE)
Forums
Our research group at the International Audio Laboratories Erlangen is working on some topics in music perception. We ran several experiments to find out: What is the number of instruments in polyphonic music humans can estimate correctly?

Getting rid of clicks/artifacts on reversed guitar parts
Forums
I recorded a guitar part a while back, and reversed it, and I was wondering how to get rid of the unpleasant noise at the very end of each note
Cheap, yet Good Sounding Monitor Speakers
Forums
New to recording, a bit low on cash from buying other gear. Any recommendations on cheap monitors that will give me the closest to real sound everyone would hear. The music I am doing is bass heavy, so good sounding bass is wanted. I have done some research, but most stuff I read online are pretty old, so I am looking for more up-to-date answers.

Looking for some hardware setup and connectivity advice. Non-newb
Forums
Hey Folks,
While I am not a newb (12 years with home studio) I have always had this underlying feeling that I have not ever set my system up just right. I have resisted asking for input as I certainly should know by now if I am properly set up and/or running as efficiently as I could be.
My voice is too big. (Won't sit in the mix)
Forums
Hi! Been reading, working, recording, and greatly increasing my skills as a recordist.
But I'm having a problem. I'm doing a cover of Stairway to Heaven, and I can't get my lead vox to sit in the mix. It's either too loud or too soft.

How should I mix this fig 8 room mic?
Forums
I'm getting a fig 8 Cascade Fathead II in the next few days, and one of its uses in my studio will be as a room microphone for my guitar rig. I've never used room mics on guitars before, only close mics, but I want to see what it's all about.
