I think it would cool if you would talk a little about the inherent tonal qualities of vinyl and how best to prepare material that is going specifically to vinyl. Do you recommend mastering differently for CD and Vinyl? And if so, what things can an engineer do to maximize the potential results?

Hi! I am pretty new to this forum, and have to say that it is absolutely great to attend your discussions. I can't find enough time to read all of the excelent info you share here. Here is my question.
I am a recording engineer/producer here in Argentina, and have been busy working for the last 13 years, with good success.

It's becoming obvious that we need to start a thread where we can just post anything that comes to mind, vent, or just spew (however you spell it).

I know I'm new to this forum, but I have noticed something which I think is very important. I see lots of posts about equipment. This is fine as far as it goes, but equipment does not make a mastering engineer.

I don't know whether anyone else has come up with this idea for this web site but I thought that since the basic topic at this site is sound, it should have a way or system in place to provide sound for examples.

I'm going to start a thread here for questions for those that are new to mastering would like answered. Software, hardware, monitoring, or just the approach some of us take when tackling a song. If i can't answer it, i'm sure someone can.
