Mastering from a mixed CD
Can proper mastering be done from a completed mix on a CD(disk) as opposed to importing the songs from pro tools? Thanks in advance.

Hi guys just letting you know I'm a huge newbie and dont know a lot about mixing so any help would be awesome.
Basically the band I'm in got a show on a radio station and we all played well and we're thinking of turning the recording the station gave us into a live demo.

A Level Headache
Here's the problem: I can't seem to get my volume levels to the same levels as any other mix. I will be working with a mix, and when I have it where I think it should be I will load a song from my itunes to compare, and the volume will be very different (my mix usually being much quieter). Is there a standard volume that everyone aims for?

A question for you pro's regarding EQ
Hi All
This looks like a great forum and this is my first post.
A friend of mine and myself are doing some simple recording straight off the floor with a stereo mic.
I play bass, he plays guitar and we use a drum machine.(instrumental)

Sonic Maximizer, Mastering yes no?
Hey all,
What is mastering all about? Is it worth spending money on now that we have great plugins like Maximizers?
What are your thoughts?
Can you hear the difference to the sound quality before and after?

I'm guessing its all the same with the levels you want however, I thought to ask anyway or see what your thoughts are, results differences you see or what this topic invites in general with mixes coming from analog summing systems?
